Reflecting on my blogs overall ( semester 1-2)

Early in the year, I learned the importance of really having a good camera angle throughtout you film. You can see that in the first film i made (Aug 25) with interviewing fellow student Jessica Hernandez I wasn't really capturing her it seemed to be be as if I was focusing onn the background as well. On my second project I really got the chance to actual edit clips so they can be at their very best and look as natual as possible, as if it only took once to present the interview. belive it or not, but i never knew that EXTERME editing was a major role in filming videos! A scence that shows my group and I really accomplished a lot was "The Result" when we used a lot of technics we learned in this class such as over the shoulder shot. This allowed the viewer to see the person that is talking while seeing the other present persons shioulder allowing you to see the conversation betwwen the two actors. I also learned that music is a VERY important role in making film, the music you choose can really effect the mood of the whole whole foootage itself ! An example of the would be when in the film "The result" I learned that music is important in the scence where i enter the teachers classroonm to grab the test document to cheat, we used dramatic music which really nailed the moment. If we were to put happy music it would really change the whole entire scence! One project that I feel I really learned a lot from would for sure be from the video on cyberbullying!!!!! COMMUNICATION is the most important thing to know in this class when working with groups! Each indivual from that group has successfully made a great progress since then! Effects are also a fun a cool thing to work with which really make things pop out its a nice abstarct thing to experience in this class it somewhat expresses youre inner feelings towards something!

First Flight

Reflection for "The Water is Wide" music video assignment: What we were trying to aim for was a little bird named Marley trying to find his way to fly in a way find himself throughout the journey. When this bird flew he undergoes several obstacles, within this journey facing terror with other villains around nature. This reflects the animal nature where everyone and everything is trying to fight to survive in this world. Towars the end of marley's journey he reaches peace within his fundamental environment which happens to be his nest. Regardless of human or animal, we humans can relate 100% with these wonderful extraordinary creatures, this object is what we love and can't seem to be away from and that is home.Where I felt Ryan and I did a good job (my favourite) was towards 1:16-1:27+1:51-2:06 the way the bird slowy and gracefullly moves within the wind showing his essence of truly being. The way the image goes turning into three duiffrent shades really brought this to the table, it really went well with the song in that particular moment. Marley was taking a ride ride in his journey, enjoying it in his FIRST FLIGHT. The choice of images we used I felt really represented the bird in his journey, really capturing his first journey in this tough yet beautiful world we all know. The colours, shapes, and absteracts used for this video were so pretty.... Especially 0:06-0:10+2:27+2:34-2:45 were just really cool for the feeling and mood I recieved throught it all. The feeling of new life. I would say our film consits of on and off abstract images... We used abstract effect although we wanted to let the viewer be able to grasp what the actual image was to provoke the message and assignment. I learned a lot using different effects for this project, it was a awesome experience to be a part of. It was like involving artful images to actual footage. It was really important to flow the mood and moment using the song to display the images in the video. What I noticed if we were't to folow the flow we got from the song, this video would be not as great... Ryan was totally awesome to work with in this project, he really was hands on and very approachable to new ideas. I don't think I could have asked for more from him I really learned some new things that I wouls totally use outside of class. SO THANK YOU! The contribhution I made for this was actuallly using the effects with Ryan we both used the effects we found to be best for the moodmoment we wanted to actually create not only a great visualization, but a great storyline for the music video, usingh certain images. A quote that would really fit the storyline to this music video that i like is: "Not all who wander are lost"

Extra Credit ( Ryan O and I)

In order to use the effect we used , you have to use threshold(stylize) and wave wrap (disort). You go to the effect panel chaning the wave type, height, width, and direction. With also chaning the degree. If you wanted to use this in a film, you could use it for a mysterious part , I see it a more if you wanted a somwhat cool visual.

Stanza 6 - Miranda & Okerson

I believe my partner and I did Lens Distortion best, which was under distort. The effect worked well because it addeed a really awesome move to it , the colours and all were just great! The mood we wanted to get with this was some what a demention wave , zoom. It was really nice, one of my faves.

Animation p2

In this shot we used twirl and threshold. We animated it by toning the color and we also re-distorted  the chracters face. Overall this was a pretty simple process to complete!

Effects/Reflection

The first effect we used was the twirl effect, amd in order to get that we had to go to the effects box in Premiere Pro and click on twirl. We adjusted how the twirl would look. Then we used the wave warp effect. Vanessa and I changed the saturation setting and the speed of the waves. We aslo changed the shape of the wave.

These effects could be used in a move to distort faces and make them kind of look like monsters, which has similarities to the effects in spy kids.

The Result:Short film

Our final video thoughts

This post is from everyone that commented on our blog and the video. Liz, Jorge and Alicia, Elissa, Luis and Lizzy, Ryan, Julissa, Cynthia.
The positive comments that were most meaningful to us were from Everyone. They all pretty much said the same thing in one way or another. They told us that the little sections of the flashback were really good and it worked well with the storylineThat was helpful because It let us know that the choice to do the flashback was correct. In addition, they told us that the shots of Alexis’ character where you can truly see her reaction were done well, and that helped us see that we did stuff right even though we were stressing the film wasn’t that great.
The two best suggestions we got were from pretty much everyone who posted a comment. They all told us the same thing we were already thinking about the editing and the music and that was helpful because we were able to tell that we were on the right check and we all thought the same thing. We already addressed the situations that were all mentioned.

Our Groups Rough Draft #1 + Reflection

1) We are trying to represent the main emotion which is guilt and honesty.

2) I really like the openning scence were the whole entire class is talking it really brings out the feel of an actual class. I also really like our title plan toward the end.

3) We still need to complete the whole film clips especially well, mostly all on editing.

4)What my group and I need feedback on would be how are cuts look? Do they actually flow together?

5)One of the challeges we faced would have to be how we didn't have all the clips editied. I believe with all the filmming we did was pretty good. The only problem would be putting our entire clips together. Other than that I'm pretty sure we got we just need to get on the ball with this.

shoulder Shots

Describe how your group planned your shots. What realizations did you make about the kind of planning that needs to happen BEFORE you shoot?
We Made we captured the over the should technic meaning going behind the indivuals shoulder.

Look at the composition of your over the shoulder shots. Did you follow the rule of thirds? Why or why not?
Yes and no. With Jayys shots yes and Cassies no.

What IMPRESSIONS do the over the shoulder shots create about the characters? How does this work?
It involves and allows you to feel as if you are a part of the conversation.

How realistic does the dialogue seem in the final edit? What challenges did you have in editing?
I believe we did an alright job with this. We could have done less of the action as seen on the backround which didn't make it as realistic as it could have been.

Is there a dominant mood or tone to your video? What is that mood or tone? How did you accomplish this?
We tried to involve our personalities when Cassie and Jayy were acting wso I belive our actresses did a pretty swell job with that!

What other ideas got emphasized or reinforced about how to make effective videos from doing this exercise?
I believe the over the sghoulder shot is really effective and allows you to really connect to the footage.

Our Holiday Greetings!

Reflection on Holiday Greeting Video

I believe we did alright compared to others although it would have been nice to be more smooth and natural when I was saying my script. Compared to others when it came up to music, titles, and credits I know Vanessa and I met criteria. I would have liked to include more imagery in our video instead of just one which was the one of us in our backround. When groups added more photos and such to their video I feel as if it really brought it to life really capturing a moment in time. I specifically worked with credits and music. I really liked the song we used it had a very nature feel to it. My partner worked on making our two films become one she did a pretty good job on that. Vanessa was a lot of help when it came up to it she always was on it which really made not stress as much. Vanessa and I both worked on the video and the script just as equally we bothe made sure especially during the script that it should be half and half to add our personalities within the script. Despite having our whole video completed in time and all if I had another chance I would have done a better jobs on acting out when saying my lines I let me nearvousness really get to me which didn"t make the video as good and wholseome.

Workshop

Green Screen Reflection

The way a green screen work is by having a colored backround such as green. The backround is used to place to have one be acting out and have an actual scenery of you're choice. Once you have the green screen behind an object you you of course flim as if you were to be normaly filmming then latter using a program called After Effects which elimates shadows, backround, and lighting turning into to a silhouette. After that is done you add the backround of your choice. Then you edit your video using Premire Pro.

One Important thing to consider when working with green screen is to make sure there are no shadows, wrinkles, off color objects.

What might make it a tad bit difficult when creating a green screen would have to be dealing with shadows and lighting. You really want to make sure you made everything equal when using keylight because if you don't it makes things not look so realistic and vivid when using your backround.

I believe using affter effect is wayyy easier than premire pro. The reason for that would be I feel as is affter effects is more straight to it which allows it to be a lot smoother for me.

Bree's Teledramatic Art Reflections: Five Things I Learned From Other Videos

I learned A LOT from other classmates videos. I really liked how many in our class really did a fantasic job on their videos. I learned that including interviews really makes a difference in ones video.

Titles and statements really leave a huge impact amog ones video. I really like how this group was very serious when it came up to it really brought chills amog my classmates the music was also fab really captured the moment.

I also learned that videos could be incredibly advanced... To be honest I never thought it could be coming from one of our fellow classmates.
They made everything go good together.

I like how Bres video added comic relief yet really brimg the message to the table at the samtime.

Cyberbullying Today (Final)

Here is my groups video. I am so stoked how is it is finally completed! I am most satisfied with the music selection it makes our video more viewable also the way everything clashes together.
There were many comments that really made it for my group and I helpful the one that stood out the most was that we need to include more faces such as the speaker such as more action.
We made MANY changes and just to mention these changes were simple . It's amazing how the little things can make such a big difference to a video. We included music, more faces, titles, and an interview with Mr Valle this all really semi nailed it. If I had another day to or two to edit our video it be to shoot our fliming diffrently such as more flowy. I feel some of our clips were cutt off to soon.
So yes, if I had the chance to edit the whole entire thing I would.
I had never realized how communication is the key to many task such as this. Making a little video is harder than I thought there is many ways to do things.
Overall I belive we did wayyyy better on our edit than before. I hope you enjoy:)

~Cyberbullying Reflection~

On my groups rough draft for cyberbullying I believe we could have definatly done a better job with the whole video. I agree with many comments made towards our video such as having more realistic visuals such as as interviews with staff members of San Benito High School. I feel as if time was rushing way to fast with all the workshops. The video itself is not what I had in mind when writting the script. The day of filming sadly I wasn't there to help out my group. When I recieved the footage of the video I found it to be a bit to scattered as did my group... One of my fellow group members Jessica had also noticed the same thing when editing the whole thing. We both had run out of many options and decided to even the excessive talking of cyberbullying follwed along the camera being focused on Jessica and Elissa. So at that moment we had decided to use photos although when prentation time had came I knew our film was missing loads of qualitly. One thing I feel we had done well is with credits and the whole script itself such as facts and sugestions we really seemed to bring it to the table. What I feel my group and I should do for the final project is include interviews and music .

Titles

This is an example of an template title which means, these titles already came with the programming system called premire pro. When using premire pro to create titles or any program a few tips to including when your using a software program to create titles never use the same colour as your colour font for example if your putting lettering on the sky you wouldn't use sky blue. This is a mistake I had made at first well not exactly with this example of course. You would use template titles when you want an opening scence, interviews to introduce the speaker,or even actors inner thoughts.

Lifting And Extracting

A simple cut in the timeline means you are making a cut in the timeline itself. When you cut, the other clips in the timeline will leave a gap between the two clips.

A ripple edit is when you have removed a clip without leaving a gap within your clips. You do this by right clicking the selected clip of your choice. When you ripple delete, the other clips to the right of the deleted clip you will connect to the clips (left).

Lifting and extracting are two ways to cut a clip at one time. To do this, you choose the in point and out point of the second screen of the program and select either the lift or extract function.

Lifting is like cutting, while extracting is like a ripple delete, in terms of what happens to the clips in the timeline such as the others you had chosen.

This is an example of an extracting edit. I decided to extract the two clips where I did because the removal of the clips left the other remaining clips with a more quick paste flowy feel which everthings appears more rapid than before.
